Festival du documenteur / Mockumentary Festival

June 2 – June 4, 2017 / Second edition

RULES AND REGULATIONS

April 10th, 2017 : entry deadline for all films.

ARTICLE 1. ORGANIZERS

The organization of On Vous Ment – Festival du documenteur (hereafter called “the Festival”) is carried out by the association Langue Pendue (hereafter called “the Organizer”), whose head office is located at 5 rue Sainte Catherine 69001 Lyon, represented by its president Nicolas Landais.

ARTICLE 2. FESTIVAL DURATION

The second edition of On Vous Ment – Festival du documenteur will be held in the city of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon (69110), from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th June 2017.

ARTICLE 3. RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR FILMS SUBMISSIONS

3.1 Submissions are open from Thursday, December 1st 2016 (12 pm UTC+01:00) to Monday, April 10st 2017 (11:59 pm UTC+01:00), via the Organizer’s website : www.onvousment.fr.

3.2 The Participant must submit a film corresponding to the features of the genre “documenteur”. Theme and length are not imposed. The genre “documenteur” is defined by the Organizer as follow: a narrative film whose content and form features correspond to the documentary genre. The following genres will also be accepted: “mockumentary” and “found footages”. If the Film submitted presents a more experimental connection between narrative and documentary features, the Participant must precise to what extent his Film fits the genre. Films corresponding to the docufiction genre (documentaries capturing realty with fictional reconstructions) are not eligible to the Festival.

3.3 Two categories are open to submissions. Feature films: running time of 50 minutes or more. Short films: running time of less than 50 minutes.

3.4 The Film can be submitted by the director or by a production company. The participant must be an actual individual of 18 years-old minimum. The Participant is allowed to submit several films, in both categories.

3.5 An entry form must be filled out on the Organizer’s website www.onvousment.fr prior to the date indicated in the article 1. All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required. In order to complete its registration, the Participant must upload his film in the appropriate section, or send it to the Organizer via the address mentioned in the entry form. The Participant is free to send one or several film(s) using a new entry form. Each film must be individually submitted and will count for one participation. Once the registration is properly completed, the Organizer will send an email to the Participant confirming the reception of his Film.

3.6 The Film must be submitted in its original language, with French or English subtitles.

3.7 The Film must have been completed no earlier than 24 months (2 years) before the start date of the festival.

3.8 The Participant is free to do whatever he wants for the rest, because specifications and regulations are boring: a Film can be submitted no matter its nationality, production date, and can also be an animated movie.

ARTICLE 4. SELECTION

4.1 The official selection will be revealed on April, 25th 2016. The Films selected will benefit from specific screenings during the festival, depending on which category they belong to (the program will soon be announced on the website).

4.2 The Participants whose films are selected will be contacted after the selection and will be asked to send an exhibition copy (digital or film) of their Film, as well as information for the public (a synopsis, a short biography of the author(s) and at least one picture representing the Film are required).

4.3 The Participants whose films are selected will also receive an accreditation for the whole festival as well as a privileged access to the festival’s various events.

4.4 The Festival will be obliged to award the “Prix du meilleur documenteur – catégorie long” (best feature mockumentary award) and the “Prix du meilleur documenteur – catégorie court” (best short mockumentary award). But it’s still a secret!

Article 5.

5.1 The Participant hereby agrees to grant the Organizer all non-exclusive free rights, for the whole wide world and for a period of 3 (three) years starting from his registration to the Festival, to publish the first name and last name given in the submission form as well as all the information related to the Film, on any medium and by any known and/or unknown means whatsoever (especially when it comes to social networks, websites on the internet or intranet, press and television) within the framework of the Festival, without any limitation of the number of reproductions and/or broadcasts.

5.2 The Participant also grants the Organizer all non-exclusive free rights to show and broadcast (or let others show and broadcast) a 1 minute (maximum) excerpt of his Film, in association or not with other audiovisual programs, for promotional purposes in the framework of the Festival for the whole wide world and for a period of 3 (three) years starting from his registration to the Festival: – on the website of the Organizer (onvousment.fr) in its web and mobile versions, including mobile apps – on the facebook, youtube, dailymotion, vimeo pages of On Vous Ment!, and all its video platforms – on the websites, mobile and digital tablet apps of the event’s media partners – as well as on any other website chosen by the Organizer to promote the Festival.

Participation in the Festival implies acceptance of all the aforementioned regulations. Should any dispute arise regarding the interpretation of an article in these regulations, their original French version is binding.
